Friday, October 12, 2018, was a historic day for Springfield Civic Garden Club, area students, Springfield Park District, and the people of Springfield and of Illinois. To celebrate our state's 200th birthday, SCGC contributed 200 trees that were planted in Centennial Park in Springfield, IL. Students from New Berlin, Pleasant Plains, and Rochester, helped plant the trees. Pictured below is Raymond Poe, Secretary of Agriculture and SCGC President Sally Noble talk about the tree project. Next picture shows SCGC President Sally Noble listening to Karen Grant as she tells the audience all of the work that Noble did organizing this project and bringing it to fruition. Then SCGC President Sally Noble introduces school children who read their paragraphs or poems on what trees meant to them. The next pictures are of some of the children helping plant the trees. The last pictures are a view of some of the 200 trees.
