Chris Young is Director of the Office of Resource Conservation within the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. His responsibilities encompass the divisions of Wildlife, Fisheries, Forestry, Natural Heritage, Private Lands and Contaminant Assessment. He has been with IDNR for the past nine years. Previously, he was a journalist covering outdoors and environment for the State Journal-Register in Springfield.
During his journalism career, Chris developed a specialty in nature photography. He continues to photograph wildlife and natural areas in his spare time. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication from Iowa State University and a Master of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Illinois Springfield.
