Seed Saving: The Opportunities and Challenges

August 5 @ 9:30 am - 11:30 am

Speaker: Nancy Sweet-Christie

Master Gardner and SCGC member, Nancy Sweet Christie, will share her insight and seed saving experiences on this interesting, increasingly popular, and important topic. Learn the basics of how to get started saving your own garden seeds, why seed saving is important, and some of the challenges and opportunities of seed saving. If you love plants, and you enjoy having fun outside learning new things, then consider carving out some time for this fascinating, creative, and rewarding practice.

Nancy shared her magnificent garden with us on the 2023 Garden Walk. Her garden featured many beautifully designed and maintained flower and vegetable beds, gorgeous landscaping, plus a chicken coop and honeybee frames. In 2018, Nancy was awarded the Illinois State Fair Grand Champion Honey and in 2023, she was awarded First Place Division II (Culinary) for her honey!
